Abstract
The purposes of this study were i) to compare physical, financial and social preparation for later life between baby boomers and the pre-elderly, ii) to find the factors influencing preparation for later life including family characteristics, and iii) to seek practical implications for baby boomers. The data used for this study were from a Study on the senior people of retirement plan 2011. The data consisted of 472 baby boomers and 203 pre-elderly people. Results showed that there is no difference in physical, financial, and social preparation between baby boomer and pre-elderly populations. As a result of multiple regression analysis, characteristics of ¡°caught generation¡± were appeared in physical, financial, and social preparation. In financial preparation, caregiving burden for their parents, caregiving burden for parents-in-law, and relationship satisfaction with their children were statistically significant variables to predict the preparation for later life. Based on these findings, the implications for social work intervention are discussed.
